Etienne de Boré oak – Audubon Park, New Orleans, Louisiana

Tree of Life oak

Etienne de Boré oak, in Audubon Park, New Orleans, is one of the first 43 oaks selected by Dr. Edwin Lewis Stephens as founding members of the Live Oak Society. The massive live oak’s trunk is approximately 35 feet in circumference. It is known locally as the “Tree of Life” and enjoys the frequent company of visitors who marry, picnic, and walk their dogs beneath the shade of its large canopy, and who occasionally place memorials for loved ones near the base of the trunk, nestled in its roots.
